Cyclone Drill
Title: Cyclone Drill Category: Passing Age Tags: U11, U13, U15, U18+ Skill Tags: Passing, Give and Go, Receiving, Shooting, Timing Purpose: Develop passing timing, give-and-go execution, and receiving passes in stride while warming up puck movement. Setup: Players form lines along both boards at each blue line. One player starts with a puck. Opposite line is ready to receive the first pass. Drill Steps: • Player 1 passes across the ice to the opposite line. • Player 1 skates laterally along the blue line. • Opposite player passes back to Player 1. • Player 1 makes a quick touch pass up ice to the next player in line. • Player 1 skates forward and receives a stretch pass across the far blue line. • Player 1 continues forward and finishes with a shot or joins the opposite line. Coaching Points: • Make flat, accurate passes. • Keep feet moving throughout the drill. • Receive passes in stride. • Present stick as a target. • Maintain proper timing and spacing. Variations: • Add shot on net at the end. • Require one-touch passes. • Run continuously from both sides. • Add puck control move before shooting. Time: 8–12 minutes
