Setup: One goal with goalkeeper. Two cones placed 5–10 yards in front of starting line (one cone per player). Two players start side by side on starting line. Coach stands with a ball positioned centrally beyond the cones. Drill Steps: • On coach’s signal, players sprint around their designated cone. • After rounding the cone, they accelerate toward the ball. • Players battle for position and possession. • Player who wins the ball attacks the goal. • Defender applies immediate pressure. • Play continues until goal, save, or ball out. • Rotate players after each repetition. Coaching Points: • Explode off the starting line. • Use body to gain inside position. • Protect the ball when under pressure. • Attack decisively once possession is won. • Defender recovers quickly and stays goal side. Variations: • Coach serves ball instead of stationary start. • Add time limit to shoot. • Start players in different body positions (kneeling, facing away). • Increase distance to emphasize recovery speed. Time: 8–12 minutes
