Title: Home Base Ball Steal Category: Small-Sided Games / Competition Age Tags: U11, U13, U15, U17, 19U+ Skill Tags: Dribbling, Ball Protection, Awareness, Agility, Competition Purpose: Develop dribbling under pressure, ball protection, and awareness in a fun, competitive environment. Setup: Create one large square grid. Inside each corner of the large grid, mark a smaller “home” square (4 total). Divide players into four equal teams. Each team starts in their designated home square. Place multiple balls scattered in the large grid (or evenly distributed to start). Drill Steps: • On coach’s signal, players dribble balls back to their home square. • Players may steal balls from other teams’ home squares. • Only one ball can be moved at a time. • Players must dribble (no kicking balls away). • After time expires, team with most balls in their home square wins. Coaching Points: • Keep ball close when in traffic. • Shield ball when under pressure. • Keep head up to find open space. • Accelerate away after securing a ball. • Compete with control and awareness. Variations: • Weak foot only. • Add defenders who cannot score. • Limit entry into home square to one player at a time. • Require specific move before entering home square. Time: 8–12 minutes
