Inner Circle Explosion Dribbling
Title: Inner Circle Explosion Dribbling Category: Technical Warm-Up / Competition Age Tags: U11, U13, U15, U17, 19U+ Skill Tags: Dribbling, Acceleration, Ball Control, Speed & Agility, Awareness Purpose: Improve explosive dribbling speed and ball control while training players to accelerate quickly out of tight spaces. Setup: Create two circles using flat cones. Inner circle for players to dribble inside. Outer circle placed 15–20 yards from the inner circle. Each player has a ball. Drill Steps: • Players dribble continuously inside the inner circle. • On coach’s whistle, players explode out of the circle. • Players dribble around any cone on the outer circle. • Players race back to the inner circle. • First player back wins the round. • Players resume dribbling inside until next whistle. • Coach may have the last player perform 10 ball taps. Coaching Points: • Stay low when exploding out of the circle. • Use the laces of the cleat for acceleration. • Take bigger touches when sprinting. • Keep ball under control when turning. • Keep head up while moving through traffic. Variations: • Weak foot only. • Require specific move when reaching outer cone. • Change direction of outer run. • Reduce inner circle size. Time: 6–10 minutes
