Four-Goal Passing Game
Title: Four-Goal Passing Game Category: Small-Sided Games Age Tags: U11, U13, U15, U17, 19U+ Skill Tags: Possession, Defensive Pressure, Passing & Receiving, Transition, 1v1 Defending Purpose: Develop team possession with a pass requirement while reinforcing strong defensive principles in a multi-goal game. Setup: Create a rectangular grid. Place one small goal in each corner (4 total). Divide players into two teams. Designate one team to start as defenders. Offensive team must complete at least two passes before scoring. Drill Steps: • Play begins with offensive team in possession. • Offensive team attempts to score in any of the four goals. • Team must complete a minimum of two passes before shooting. • Defenders apply pressure and attempt to win possession. • If defenders win the ball, they transition to attack. • Play continues for set time or score. Coaching Points: • Move the ball quickly to shift defenders. • Create space before attacking a goal. • Defenders get low and stay balanced. • Make the field small defensively. • React quickly in transition moments. Variations: • Increase pass requirement. • Add neutral player. • Limit touches. • Reduce grid size for more pressure. Time: 10–15 minutes
